At Legion Transformation Center, we believe being a mother is one of the toughest jobs in the world. Some would say it is even harder than being the president of the United States of America. But do you know how much the difficulty increases when you are a mom who wants to stay fit? 

If you’re a mom reading this, I don’t have to say anything further; you’re already shaking your head in agreement!


How many times have you searched for ‘gyms near me’ and selected a gym for yourself only to never make it there? Don’t feel bad about this if it’s happened to you! You are not the only mother who struggles to follow a healthy fitness routine. There are so many like you whose wish remains only a wish. 

The reason you fall behind in your fitness is that as a mother you’ve always put others first. You have your family, friends and children to look after. And you, of course, love them deeply and want to take care of them as much as possible. But it is important to keep in mind that if you want to take care of them, you need to start taking care of yourself first. They have you, but who do you have if not even yourself? Think about it.

Staying fit is not an option, it’s a lifestyle. Which means there is some flexibility in what your fitness routine can look like. Just because there are other “fit moms” on Instagram posting about how they’re doing backflips with their babies does not mean you have to go to extremes to be fit as a mom. In fact, you don’t even have to start with anything drastic. You can start small by incorporating easy and healthier activities into your daily routine. 


Staying fit will not only help your body stay young and energized at present but it will also keep you healthy in the long run – which is a benefit to you and those little ones you’re looking after.

  • Align your workout timing with your children’s schedule. Don’t let their day time activities get in your way of exercising. If you have to, bring them with you to your workouts! (At Legion Transformation Center we have designated kid zones where your children can hang out while you get your workout in)
  • Don’t do it alone, it’s always a good idea to work out with a partner so that both of you can have a sense of accountability and motivate each other. I’m sure there’s someone you know that’s looking to shake up their routine and get in shape as well; do it together!
  • Teach your kids about the importance of mindful eating and exercise. This will help them understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle and they might even help hold you accountable if they see you eating something that’s preventing you from making progress.
